In the Spotlight: Jill Elliott Studio
January 13, 2026
Jill Elliott is a painter, writer, and lifelong creative who recently relocated to the Canopy community, where she works from her studio in one of the art trailers.
Elliott’s artistic focus begins with color, followed by texture and form. She uses these elements to create compositions that evoke calm and intention in the viewer.
Her creative journey began while studying marketing at Texas Christian University. What started as a hobby in painting soon became central to her work. After graduation, she worked in the fashion industry at Fossil, where she held roles in visual merchandising and design, ultimately becoming Chief Creative Director. This experience sharpened her skills in concept development, product design, and visual storytelling.
Her transition into textile and home goods design began during a personal home remodeling project. Frustrated by the limited options for wallpapers and textiles she wanted, she began designing her own. Interest grew quickly once she began sharing her work.
Elliott approaches all her work—whether art prints, products, or textiles—with color as the primary driver. She explores palettes that feel both familiar and unexpected. Her current practice includes working intuitively with oil, acrylic, and pigment on paper and canvas. She builds surfaces in layered stages, allowing texture and depth to emerge over time. In her compositions, gestural marks and geometric shapes are balanced to create moments of quiet and visual clarity.
Through her practice, Elliott seeks to inspire calm, contemplation, and optimism in those who experience her work. You can visit her studio during Open Canopy, held on the first Saturday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 916 Springdale Rd. (Trailer 6) — where dozens of other artists and galleries are also open to the public.
