“The Show About Nothing, Jaylen Pigford’s third solo exhibition with the gallery. The title comes from the familiar exchange when someone asks, “What’s wrong?” and the reply is “nothing.” This response often conceals what is most difficult to say. In this exhibition, Pigford brings to light the experiences and struggles he once kept hidden, transforming what was left unspoken into painted form. Formative experiences are revisited, deepening Pigford’s ongoing dialogue between hardship and growth. What emerges is an affirmation that even the weight of silence and struggle can be reshaped into strength. This body of work also marks Pigford’s first presentation of oil paintings, a medium that allows for layered surfaces and a slower, more contemplative process.”
