From Ivester Contemporary:
“Ivester Contemporary is pleased to announce Chorion Song, Katy McCarthy’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition of photographs and video work features small figurines and the artist’s own placenta from the recent birth of her first child. Blending whimsy and dark humor, McCarthy captures the contradictions of motherhood: joy and fatigue, play and responsibility, the tender and the grotesque. The instrumental soundtracks that accompany the videos echo the lighthearted cues of a sitcom before slipping into something more uneasy, mirroring the surreal strangeness of early parenthood.”
